World-renowned jeweler Martin Katz has joined forces with the greatest independent watchmaker in the world, François-Paul Journe, to create F.P.Journe’s very first watch collection designed and developed for women, the élégante.  Katz, a long time admirer and client of Mr. Journe’s, consulted on the creation of the collection offering his input, resulting in a stunning collaboration of two true artists.

“Working on the élégante with Mr. Journe was a true honor,” says Katz.  “Our style aesthetic and quality of work are perfectly aligned, so to share in the design process of the women’s watch collection for a brand I truly respect was an exciting project for me.”

“Martin Katz has been dressing some of the worlds’ most gorgeous and discerning women in his jewelry designs for over 25 years,” explains Mr. Journe.  “His insight on the design of the élégante was invaluable.”

The collection combines the comfort of use of an electromechanical watch with the elegance and precision F.P.Journe watches are famous for. The case of the élégante is available in titanium, with six colored rubber partitions and a matching rubber strap: white, rose, light blue, midnight blue, chocolate brown, and khaki green.  The 18 carat red gold version comes with a chocolate brown strap. A platinum version of the élégante in midnight blue is available with a gorgeous diamond-set bezel and upon request a version can be fully-set with baguette diamonds.

The élégante watch is a result of eight years of extensive research and was designed and conceived exclusively for women. Featuring a mechanical motion detector visible on the dial at 5 o’clock, when the watch is not worn, it stops after about 30 minutes and goes into standby mode. In standby mode the microprocessor continues to keep time, while the mechanical parts - gears, rotors and hands - stop moving in order to save energy. When the élégante is worn again, it automatically sets itself to the correct time, taking the shortest path - either clockwise or counter clockwise - again, for the purpose of energy conservation.
